Annie Sims

Annie Sims has been an active member of CAU for 27 years and is a respected employee. She works for both the CAU Chat Center as a mentor and has also worked for the Cleaning Crew, where she learned valuable employment skills that she now applies to her career as a self-advocate and field coordinator for the New American Movement for People with Disabilities.

Annie loves going out with her friends, whether it be on recreational events or traveling for the pleasure of it. Annie is extremely involved in self-advocacy at Community Access. She was the president of Helping Hands, and is a  member of Jumpstart. She was a participant in the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities Partners in Policymaking (PIP) class of 2012-2013. She is involved in trainings with staff and members, and participates in open houses with the CAU Human Resources staff. With the opportunities that she has found at CAU, Annie has grown to be a leader and an advocate for herself physically, mentally and for others. She never let anything break her in spite of the challenges facing her.
