Self Advocate

Danielle has been an active member of CAU for 8 years and is a respected employee. Danielle works part time for CAU in the CAU Chat Center answering the phones and helping staff and members when needed. Danielle passion is helping others.

Danielle has solidified her advocacy skills as a recent 2019 graduate of the Partners in Policymaking (PIP) program through the NJ Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Danielle is the Helping Hands Corresponding Secretary. Danielle also is a member of CAU advocacy group The New American Movement for People With Disabilities where she attended an 8 week training on what is a mentor and is a graduate of our Sid Katz Mentorship program.
Danielle actively was involved in having a resolution signed by Mayor Bollllwage and the City Council of Elizabeth declaring March as Disability Awareness month for the city of Elizabeth.

Danielle is extremely involved in self-advocacy with the opportunities that she has found at CAU Danielle has learned valuable employment skills as a self-advocate, a leader, mentor and an advocate for herself and for others. Danielle has received the Colleen Frazier award for her work in advocacy.

Danielle presently is attending school at Kean College taking computer, math and English courses. Danielle loves going out with her friends, cooking, doing arts and craft and always finding a way to keep herself busy.
